No speed increase at all , according to the chrono but .....the most important aspect is the elimination of longterm sticking and binding on the cable rod which would cause performance issues after long term use as is seen with flat area cable slides. Just be sure and check the wheels every once in a while for flats which were problematic of other roller slides of the past. So far....my Hyper Glide is far superior to those roller cable guards of the past.
