The unique design allows for maximum penetration. The blades deploy after the tip has entered so there is no chance of arrow deflection on angled shots. I used the Maniac Ex 100 grain head on a black bear this spring. I shot the bear at 30 yards. The bear was dead in less than 8 seconds, 4 yards behind the bait! It is a devestating head
